Waiting in Safety

Fact of the day: Muskox wool is eight times warmer than sheep wool. I didn’t get to see the Muskox while flying up the trail but we stopped over at White Mountain as a consolation prize. The official reason was to kill time to allow the sun to burn off the cloud and increase the the visibility to more than two miles. (When the plane is traveling at two miles a minute, it’s more comforting to have that extra visibility).

While walking to the checkpoint (Unalakleet) this morning, the legacy of musical telephone poles continued. There were no insect or bird noises in Unalakleet – only crackling overhead telephone cables. Reminded me of the early morning cycling through the Karoo on Freedom Challenge.
