By first light this morning (Friday morning – mobile signal is patchy so I am not sure when this will go through) we had done 20km. It was to be the fastest section of the day.
The narrative went along the lines of:” numerous ascents and descents; road deteriorates rapidly” to get one in the correct frame of mind.
Then came the start of the curved ball:”there is a 400m descent” …wait for it… “followed by an equally ridiculous 400m ascent”.
Osseberg: who would take an ox-wagon there? Fantastic mountain biking, would have been even better with functioning brakes.
To finish the day: nine river crossings, including wading through reeds.
