Made it on to SuperSport last night. (Supercycling – was only a glimpse but proof that I am on the event).
There was an earlier than normal start to the morning to collect laundry (yes that means clean / dry clothes and a dry towel – these things have become important to me, almost reaching the status of being the highlight of the day) and collect my bike (hopefully that will mean less wheel related stops).
Underburg (Hazeldene) for the end of Day 6. We are camped out next to a dam.
Another day of variations of scenery. We spent a significant time on the Loteni road – well worth driving on if you have a 4×4. The first 6km climb was at about a 25degree incline – good warm up, then a 14km downhill – great fun (certainly improving my cycling technique in this event – I may be able to ride properly by the end of it) followed by a water point and 6km of technical uphill (ie: steep, long climbs up singletrack and rocky jeep track). The “surprise”or “fun section” at the end was more climbing / descents.
Now for some sleep and planning on how I am going to have functional legs (and a lower back) by tomorrow morning.
