Waiting for the start

Its snowing outside – we won’t be flying out today. That does increase the chance of seeing the Ceremonial start in Anchorage on Saturday morning.

Last night was the Mushers Ball:

Drawing of the bibs (all 71 of them) one for each musher.

This morning we are all hanging around waiting for “4002” – the Logistics room – to inform us at what time each of us will be flown out in one of the bush planes (Iditarod Air Force). They are waiting for an open window in the weather which will enable us  to get to the various check points. I will be going to Finger Lake – the fourth checkpoint 149miles (approx 200km from Anchorage).

Most of the 71 Mushers - it takes all sorts.

Will now wrap up warm and venture out to try get some photos of the snow.
